Lesson
Help kids think more carefully about responsible decision-making. Introduce the idea of making a choice because it's good for your body and brain.
First and foremost, fit is about choices. Each day a child, no matter their age, makes many choices that impact their health and well-being. The lessons in this unit build awareness of the many moments each day when they can make a choice, then empowers them to make the healthy choice—the fit choice! Print and display the fit Posters to support healthy decision-making involving recharge, mood, food, and move.
Ask several students to share choices they made recently, including what time of day they made the choice such as in the morning, during school, or at bedtime.

Understanding Choices
Now it’s your students’ turn to make up silly choice questions! Read the slides aloud and have students fill in the blanks to create their own silly questions about choices. Follow along with the slideshow as you continue the lesson.
Responsible Decision-Making
fit choices are the choices you make that are good for your body and brain. Explain that whether it’s eating fruit with breakfast or choosing to get off the couch and move, many choices can be fit choices! Ask learners to share examples of fit choices that they make each day.

Practicing Making Choices
Students identify a nutritious snack choice and a healthy move choice they will make after school. Invite them to journal, draw, or talk with a classmate about the fit choices they plan to make.
Review the healthy-choice ideas kids came up with during the lesson. Explain that it can be hard to make healthy choices in the moment (even for adults!) and that reminders can help. Talk about how every healthy choice a person makes is connected to other healthy choices in their life. One healthy choice leads to another!
