Lesson

Move Your Body

Teach kids the importance of movement and activities to keep them moving.

Objectives

  • Demonstrate how to self-assess physical activity choices and seek help when needed.

Lesson Plan

The lessons in this unit present the four parts of fit—recharge, mood, food, and move—and how they connect and support a healthy lifestyle. Students will learn that having a fit mindset is about having enough energy and the motivation to make healthy nutrition and physical activity choices. Encourage healthy choices throughout the day by printing the Healthy Choice Posters for your classroom or hallway!

Set The Stage

Direct the kids to do different movements with their bodies. (example: Jump 3 times in one spot) Then prompt a discussion about why movement is important.

Captivate

fitBoost

Students stand and do a fitBoost (presented in the slideshow) to get ready for the session!

Educate

Move Your Body

Tell students that “move” is physical activity. Moving strengthens muscles, bones, and brain. Remind students that anything that gets them up and active is a fit move. Moving is easy when you make it fun!

Check for understanding: How can you move your body?

Activate

Move to the Music

Play the song, Put a Little Move in Your Day.

Students stand and dance around for the duration of the song. Have them listen for examples of ways to put a little move in your day!
