Sanford fitthe Children’s Health Initiative from Sanford Health, announced it was recognized in the Fall 2023 Digital Health Awards with 3 awards for its social media and video series. Sanford fit was developed to empower children and families to make healthy lifestyle choices. The program is grounded on four pillars essential to building awareness of healthy lifestyle choices, guiding decision-making, and improving self-management skills. The program provides free, online, educational materials designed to captivate children’s attention, educate them about important health topics, and activate healthy behaviors.

The biannual Digital Health Awards® recognizes the world’s best digital health resources for consumers and health professionals. For the fall competition, Sanford fit earned a Bronze distinction in the Digital Health - Social Media: Instagram category for their page. The program also earned Merit distinctions in the Digital Health Media/Publications: Video category for “Eat the Rainbow Snack Ideas” and the “Quick Mood Videos” series.  

“We were delighted to participate again in the Digital Health Awards competition, and we're honored to be recognized in two categories,” said Amy Baete, the Director of Sanford fit. “Our winning entries were chosen from more than 500 entries judged by a panel of distinguished experts in digital health media. The value of engaging, easily accessible, and expert tools and information is important for the families and children we serve. We are very proud that the high-quality, high-impact work produced by our talented team is making an impact.”

Annie Farmer manages the production and design of the Sanford fit Instagram page and has also been involved in the creation of the “Eat the Rainbow Snack Ideas” and the “Quick Mood Videos” series along with Amy Baete, Brittney Nathan, Shelby Huber, Katrina Lien, and Lara Thiem. 

In the Fall 2022 competition, Sanford fit took the top spot in the Web-based Digital Health: Website category with a Gold distinction. The program also earned a Silver distinction in the Digital Health Media/Publications: Video category for “Relax with Dakota: A Mindful Meditation for Kids.” 

In 2021, the video: “Recognizing Feelings and Emotions” received a Gold Award for Digital Health Media / Publications: Video and the “fitBoost Activity for Kids received a Bronze Award for Web-based Digital Health: Interactive Content / Rich Media.

The Health Information Resource CenterSM (HIRC), organizer of the Digital Health Awards, is a national information clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. Other well-known HIRC programs include the annual National Health Information AwardsSM (healthawards.com), which annually recognizes the nation’s best consumer health information (in non-digital formats).
